Are You Too Smart to be a Good Business Person?

As the old addage goes, "Are you too smart for your own good"?  We often find brilliant people who can't succeed in business, as their intelligence gets in the way of process and follow through on their ideas.

Be Too Smart to Fail


There is a term that is flying around today that makes me chuckle..."Thought Leader". Are you a thought leader? Maybe you would consider yourself a "Visionary", the predeccessor to the term "Thought Leader". Either way, we find that visionaries, or thought leaders, or whatever the next great term for those with great ideas and no follow through may be, will never make forward progress without an integrator.

The book "Traction", by Gino Wickman, is a great read for those who find themselves with great ideas and no follow through. I'm plugging the book in this blog post, as the EOS system has been very beneficial to me over the past few years regarding business processes, structure, and fluidity.

Just Do It (Then Do It Again, and Again, and Again)

Take a moment to watch this video from 1987? by Art Williams.  I understand that he created Primerica, an MLM company, however I assure you I am not trying to entice you into filling your garage with soap.  This video is something I watch every Sunday afternoon to get my head back into the business game for Monday morning.

 

 

Would you consider Art Williams to be too smart for his own good? Maybe he is a thought leader or visionary...Just the opposite...He just does it, then does it again.  There are numerous motivators in the market, however the point of this blog is to get people out of their brain and into the market place to conduct business.



CONCLUSION:

Stop worrying about the processes that haven't been created, and stop fearing rejection.  Rejection is the first great step towards success.  The more No's you get, the better your skills become to overcome objections and get the yes.  Business is a contact sport...The more contacts you make, the better your opportunity to capture. It all boils down to one truth in business or sales or life.  Those that get up and do it, generally aren't finding themselves being too smart to be happy or successful.
